Cosmic Dust, Refraction and Emissivity

چکیده

Cosmic dust is pervasive within our galaxy and it is reasonable to suspect it is dispersed in various ways throughout the universe. Cosmic dust has emissivity when exposed to electromagnetic energy sources. The emissivity of cosmic dust contributes to cosmic radio noise and concentrations of it alters electromagnetic waves by refraction. Cosmic dust is concentrated in our Sun’s heliosphere and the resultant emissivity products in the microwave and infrared should be detectable by land based and satellite radio telescope instruments. It is possible that many of the claimed microwave and infrared measurements of the universe have in part or their entirety mapped the energy patterns of the cosmic dust in the heliosphere rather than energy patterns beyond it.

Variations of the spectral index of dust emissivity from Hi-GAL observations of the Galactic plane*

Context. Variations in the dust emissivity are critical for gas mass determinations derived from far-infrared observations, but also for separating dust foreground emission from the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). Hi-GAL observations allow us for the first time to study the dust emissivity variations in the inner regions of the Galactic plane at resolution below 1◦. Aims. We present maps of ...

Calculation of Stochastic Heating and Emissivity of Cosmic Dust Grains with Optimization for the Intel Many Integrated Core Architecture

Cosmic dust particles effectively attenuate starlight. Their absorption of starlight produces emission spectra from the nearto far-infrared, which depends on the sizes and properties of the dust grains, and spectrum of the heating radiation field. The nearto mid-infrared is dominated by the emissions by very small grains. Modeling the absorption of starlight by these particles is, however, comp...

First detection of the warm ionised medium dust emission Implication for the cosmic far-infrared background

We present a new analysis of the far-IR emission at high Galactic latitude based on COBE and HI data. A decomposition of the Far-IR emission over the HI, H+ and H2 Galactic gas components and the Cosmic Far InfraRed Background (CFIRB) is described. For the first time the far-IR emission of dust associated with the Warm Ionised Medium (WIM) is evidenced. This component determined on about 25% of...

Global Evolution Models and the Extragalactic

This article outlines a method to interpret the extragalactic background light in terms of the large-scale, average properties of galaxies , including the comoving densities of stars and interstellar gas, metals, and dust. These quantities are related by a series of coupled conservation-type equations analogous to the equations of galactic chemical evolution. This approach enables us to combine...

Cosmic Histories of Stars, Gas, Heavy Elements, and Dust in Galaxies

We investigate a set of coupled equations that relates the stellar, gaseous, chemical, and radiation contents of the universe averaged over the whole population of galaxies. Using as input the available data from quasar absorption-line surveys, optical imaging and redshift surveys, and the COBE DIRBE and FIRAS extragalactic infrared background measurements, we obtain solutions for the cosmic hi...
